After producing an ultra pretty couture show, the formidable Chanel<\/a> atelier team were <\/span>at it again, turning out an AW25 collection that celebrated the femininity of the brand. They zeroed-in on black ribbons, tied in perfect bows and lashings of Chanel\u2019s signature pearls.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Clients, wearing candy-coloured tweed and their rarest and most collectible Chanel pieces gathered in the Grand Palais to take selfies underneath a 380m long and 30m high ribbon installation, which matched the black ribbon bow sent with the invitation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The show started with a parade of youthful little tweed suits, worn with ribbon-tied knee boots and flounced tulle capes, which added a veil of prettiness to the looks.\u00a0<\/span>Pearls were used liberally and playfully, notably in cross-body minaudi\u00e8re bags which came as oversized ropes of pearls. Shoes had huge pearls in lieu of heels. Almost every look was accessorised with layered up pearl necklaces, and the pockets, plackets and hems of classic black and white tweed jackets were picked out in large pearls.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As for those silk ribbon bows, they fastened classic tweed jackets, cinched down coats and decorated sheer dresses. Bows and nestled on almost every neckline; even the bags followed suit with a new bow-shaped oversized clutch playing a starring role. Bags went either macro (A3-sized soft tweed clutches) or adorably micro (a slew of itsy-bitsy pearl minaudi\u00e8res, <\/span>mini totes and baby flap bags). The house also debuted a\u00a0<\/span>new elongated version of the flap bag, with a top handle.<\/p>\n

Chanel awaits the arrival of Matthieu Blazy<\/a>, who will present his debut show in September. For now though, ribbons and pearls and playful prettiness are the message. It\u2019s a girls world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
