Berlin Art Week 2026 is here, and with a fifteenth anniversary programme that includes more than three hundred\u00a0 events and one hundred exhibition openings you\u2019d be forgiven for feeling overwhelmed at the thought of choosing just a handful to experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the <\/span>closing-week<\/span><\/a> of the Julia Stoschek Foundation\u2019s Berlin outpost, (featuring an evening of film with 10DE favourite Matt Lambert titled <\/span>If You Can Reach My Heart You Can Keep It<\/span><\/i>), and the <\/span>launch<\/span><\/a> of photographer Vincent Wechselberger\u2019s second photobook <\/span>Dreams and How to Keep Them<\/span><\/i>, to the unveiling of <\/span>Deoron<\/span><\/a>\u2019s temporary home for beautiful objects at Monopol Berlin, <\/span>and four-day listening experience <\/span>The Ear is the Eye of the Soul<\/span><\/a><\/em> at Reethaus, there\u2019s plenty to keep you busy this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Luckily, many of the exhibitions opening throughout the next few days (including nine of the ten listed below) will stay open for the weeks and months to come, so you\u2019ve got more than enough time to work your way through our guide in full.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Subterraneans<\/em> is Czech artist Jakub Jansa\u2019s first solo showing in Berlin. Recognisable for his politically and culturally articulate but surrealist approach to film, sculpture, installation and live performance elements, Jansa\u2019s video work <\/span>The Silence of the Mole<\/span><\/i> is currently on display as part of the The Czech and Slovak Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale. Presented by Prague-based gallery KodlContemporary, and curated by Anya Harrison, Subterraneans<\/em> brings together three films from Jansa\u2019s ongoing <\/span>Club of Opportunities<\/span><\/i> series <\/span>\u2014 Shame to Pride <\/span><\/i>(2021), <\/span>Opening Ceremony<\/span><\/i> (2022) and<\/span> Pumpkinville<\/span><\/i> (2024) <\/span>\u2014 that examine the societal mechanisms of belonging within a fictional \u201cVegesociety\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guerrilla Girls<\/i><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dates: 10 September 2026 – 29 August 2027<\/span><\/p>\n

Having recently found themselves back in the headlines as feminist artist and sculptor Joyce Kozloff officially unmasked herself as a founding member of the famously anonymous activist collective, Guerrilla Girls have been challenging the art world\u2019s conscience for four decades. On the evening of 9 September, during art week, Guerrilla Girl Frida Kahlo will make an appearance at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), marking the opening of a new site-specific work, created especially for the n.b.k. facade.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Carrie Mae Weems is one of the art world\u2019s most influential names. Using her own personal history as a foundation, she uses her work as tool for exploration, examining how images shape memory and visibility. Opening during Berlin Art Week 2026, The Heart of the Matter<\/i> is a new exhibition of Weems\u2019 work at C\/O Berlin, featuring more than one hundred photographs and videos spanning key early works to recent pieces.<\/p>\n

Projections Onto the East<\/i><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Location: <\/span>Schinkel Pavillon, Oberwallstra\u00dfe 32<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Dates: 10 September – 20 December 2026<\/span><\/p>\n

At Schinkel Pavillon in Mitte, <\/span>Projections onto the East<\/span><\/i> examines how the idea of the \u201cEast\u201d is constructed as a cultural, aesthetic and political projection surface, questioning the persistent binary between East and West. Bringing together international artists, scholars and writers, the multipart exhibition explores both historical and contemporary tensions. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Showcased at documenta 5 in Kassel back in 1972, German photographer Katharina Sieverding\u2019s 1969 film <\/span>Life\u2013Death <\/span><\/i>was created in what was then known as West Berlin. It encapsulates the early years of her creative practice while representing a key moment in history, when concentrated political, social and aesthetic shifts took place. The film lends its name to a new exhibition Galerie Thomas Schulte, where it is presented as the heat of the show, complemented by large-format film stills.<\/span><\/p>\n

Achraf Touloub, Pleiades<\/i><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dates: 10 September – 14 November 2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Achraf Touloub\u2019s solo exhibition at Galeria Plan B explores painting as a space where thought, perception and materiality converge. His works move between bodies, landscapes, cities and cosmic realms, using luminous colour, layered forms and fluid compositions to evoke the circulation of people, information and capital across increasingly porous territories. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Developed in collaboration between the non-profit Mack Foundation and PArt Foundation\/Spiegelberger Stiftung, Heinz Mack\u2019s new exhibition <\/span>Spectrum Mundi<\/span><\/i> brings together 24 new paintings from Mack\u2019s <\/span>Chromatic Constellation<\/span><\/i> series, made over the past year and conceived around the 24-hour cycle of the day. Presented in the year the artist turns 95, the works embrace the tonal architecture of everyday life, from the luminosity of morning to the deeper tones of night, investigating colour and its immaterial qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exquisite Corpse<\/i><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Location: Pace Gallery, <\/a><\/span>Die Tankstelle, B\u00fclowstra\u00dfe 18<\/span><\/p>\n

Dates: 10 September – 11 November 2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Curated by American painter Loie Hollowell, Pace will present Exquisite Corpse at the serene Tankstelle gallery space it shares with Galerie Judin. The exhibition is an ode to the influential Austro-American artist Kiki Kogelnik, whose artistic influence Hollowell uncovered while in conversation with her own contemporaries Sascha Braunig and Veronika Pausova. This show will bring together works by all four artists, traversing continents and generations.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Marking his debut outing with the gallery, Vietnamese-American artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen will unveil new exhibition Fire Sermon<\/em> at Esther Schipper, featuring five new sculptures from the artist\u2019s series of mobiles. The mobiles have been produced using artillery shells salvaged in Vietnam and the essence of the work is a distillation of sentiment borrowed from Nguyen\u2019s 2022 film <\/span>The Unburied Sounds of a Troubled Horizon<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Produced by Wilhelm Studios, Hallen 07 returns for its seventh edition from 5\u201313 September at Wilhelm Hallen, welcoming more than 30 galleries, art institutions, corporate collections, artists and designers.
