“For me, art is as essential as eating or sleeping” explains Alex Huanfa Cheng. “Creation is not a choice, it is an instinct. When that instinct is completely restrained, the feeling is suffocating, like being unable to breathe.”
For the Paris-based, Chinese photographer “fashion photography is like dancing in chains.” For the creative, “true freedom is not the absence of constraints, but the ability to find space within them, allowing the music to flow through the gaps, allowing movement to emerge from restriction. It is precisely this subtle tension that makes the process of creation most compelling.”
