\u201cIt reflects something polished, meeting something slightly off\u201d, explains Hakan Solak. \u201cIt reflects the way the looks sit in the environment. Not fully belonging, but also not completely out of place. That in-between feeling was important.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The 10 DE Fashion Editor is discussing \u201cAs If\u201d the online editorial he created with long-time collaborator, photographer, <\/span>Lorenzo Pai\u0308no Fernandez. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Their working relationship is one of ease. \u201c<\/span>I can push things quite far styling-wise and he knows how to capture that without making it feel forced,\u201d Solak explains. \u201cThere\u2019s a good balance between control and letting things happen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The shoot is set in the French capital and is all about contrast. \u201cParis can feel very classic, almost predictable visually,\u201d he explains. \u201cSo I wanted to interrupt that with something sharper and more unexpected. Strong silhouettes, bold colors, and a bit of tension between elegance and awkwardness. \u201cThe street became the backdrop, but the clothes kind of disrupted it, like interrupting the city a bit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The chosen brands take this concept even further: \u201cValentino for that softness; David Koma has a more\u00a0 controlled element; Coperni very now; Givenchy sharper; Louis Vuitton more structured and Vaquera to break it up a bit. I didn\u2019t want one mood, I wanted friction between them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
