What makes a successful fashion editorial? Mutual respect and admiration is most certainly a key factor. And it’s what compelled Photographer Frauke Joana and stylist Yagmur Kural to work together.
Joana’s focus on physicality and casting, in addition to Yagmur’s approach to deconstructing clothing and its cultural recontextualisation, were the duo’s starting point. “We wanted to find a space where our approaches could meet,” explains Joana.
Blurring the boundaries between clothing and identity, “creating characters that feel both unfamiliar and intentional” was at the heart of this piece, with brands such as Loewe, Diesel, Laura Gertis, Celine, and Louis Vuitton selected for their dedication to sculptural form.
